This production features Erlend Gunstveit’s powerful rendition and dramatization of Henrik Ibsen’s epic poem, performed in Fjære Church—just meters away from where Terje Vigen himself is said to be buried, according to the poem.
Erlend Gunstveit is widely known as a singer, having won The Voice on TV. Amidst a busy festival summer, he sets aside his singing career for a few evenings to bring to life the over 150-year-old poem about the gray-haired man from the barren, rugged islet—not far from where Erlend himself grew up. The timeless tale of famine and sacrifice, hatred and forgiveness remains as relevant today as ever.
